Tasmania
Spirit of Tassie and road trip style.
My trip to Tassie Started with a 10 hour boat ride on the Spirit of Tassie, watching movies, the sunset, catching up on some studies and meeting new people. The next day began reuniting with my friend Hannah who acted as my personal tour guide having grew up in Tasmania herself before moving to Victoria. To kick start our trip we spent the day at the wonderful Tasmazia with various dad jokes hidden amongst the well maintained mazes and iconic childhood story displays. We then ventured to the historical mole creek caves where we were strictly not allowed to touch anything and enjoyed a magnificent vocal performance by our tour guide that echoed in the cave. The next day we did a road trip down to Launceston and on the way stopped by the famous Chocolate Factory watched the employees hard at work and bought ourselves a cheeky choccy, then by passed Reliquaire that had a bunch of amazing toys, robots, puppets and statues. We then visited Cataract Gorge Reserve, went on a couple of hikes, said hello to some peacocks, watched a tight rope walker walk across the river from a great height, and rode a chair lift that went over the reserve and provided us with a breath taking view. Next was a private jet boat ride along the Huon river and a quick visit to what is still left of the Cascades Women's Factory that held women convicts built in 1828 and operated until 1856. Our absolute highlight of the trip had to be the long awaited visit to Port Arthur Historic Site, we were lucky enough to do three tours during the day, visit the Isle of the dead and participate in a ghost tour late at night. The vibe was eerie and surprisingly quiet with a lot of people appreciating the historical site and a tremendous amount of spaces to explore. Some might find the space be very confronting and overwhelming while others like myself fascinating and intriguing. Our last day was spent at a little German like village names Grindelwald in the Tamar Valley of Launceston, spending the day paddle boating and playing mini golf, then eventually ending the day in an overnight stay at the Pod Inn which was one heck of an experience to say the least. The next day I was off on another 10 hour boat ride back to good old Victoria.
